Mission across the Curriculum

How do we live out our mission across the curriculum?

Art

Art

Through Art, the children are enabled to comment on profound social issues and spiritual experiences, offering a window into God’s divine creation.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

Isaiah 64:8

Computing

Computing opens up the world for learners on a global level. It develops the skills needed for truth and prioritises the common good of all people.

All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.

John 1:3

Design Technology

Design Technology encourages our children to recognise and appreciate creativity that is all around us and can be used to make beautiful things. This is thanks to our God given gifts.

He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers. Exodus 35

English

English enables our children to discover the beauty of communication, understanding and exploration of relationships with themselves, each other. God’s word helps with this, illuminating the correct path of learning and understanding for children.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Psalm 119:105

Geography

Geography enables our children to experience the beauty, awe and wonder of God’s world.

You have made the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them.

Nehemiah 9:6

History

Learning from the past helps our children to recognise and appreciate the role that God has played in the lives of those who came before us.

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Romans 15:4

Mathematics

Maths inspires our children to seek the pursuit of truth as creative, critical and analytical learners.

“Be fruitful then and multiply, teem over the earth.”

Genesis 9:7

Modern Foreign Languages

Jesus made it clear, he came for all people, of all ends of the earth and there was no barrier to his love.

There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning.

1 Corinthians 14:10

Music

Music is everywhere in our world and a wonderful gift to celebrate our world and praise God.

“My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.”

Psalms 57:7

Physical Education

Through challenging physical activities, we grow together in the image and likeness of God.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? Honour God with your bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules”        Timothy 2:5

Religious Education

Religious Education is core to our school and our mission. Through Religious Education, we look at how God is with us and in us and how his love for us is unconditional. This love is shared to others through our actions and our words.

“Love one another as I have loved you.”

John 13 : 34

Science

There is beauty all around us created for us by God. What better way to appreciate God’s work than to explore its wonder and meaning through science.

“I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens.”

Ecclesiastes 1:13
