Come and See is developed through three themes: Church, Sacrament and Christian Living, based on the documents of the Second Vatican Council, which are sequentially explored each time at greater depths.
Each topic lasts for 4 weeks and follows the same process:
Explore – this is the introduction to the topic where the pupils’ exploration of their own life experiences and the questions it raises.
Reveal – this is the heart of the topic where knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith is revealed through the Word in Scripture, Tradition, doctrine, prayers, rites and Christian living.
Respond – this is where the learning is reviewed, celebrated and responded to in pupils’ daily life.
At The Trinity Catholic Academy, we are required to teach about other religions as part of our Religious Education curriculum. This not only promotes love of our neighbours but also prepares our pupils for life in our local community and indeed modern Britain. In line with the Come and See programme, our pupils spend one week in the Autumn Term studying Judaism and, in the Summer Term, a week on a different World Religion.
At the heart of the programme is the mystery of God’s self-revelation of love through Jesus Christ. Come and See gives pupils the opportunity to explore the mystery of faith through Scripture and Tradition.
Religious Education Directory (RED) Curriculum
At The Trinity Catholic Academy, we have started our journey to follow the new Religious Education Directory and its program “To Know You More Clearly”.
It has been rolled out across EYFS, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 and it will continue to be implemented throughout KS2. It is an innovative and enriching new Religious Education program that seeks to deepen the spiritual journey of students by fostering a profound understanding of Catholic teachings and values.
This program goes beyond the traditional curriculum, encouraging students to explore their faith through a lens of curiosity and introspection. Through engaging lessons, thoughtful reflections, and interactive activities, “To Know You More Clearly” creates a dynamic learning environment that encourages students to connect with their spirituality on a personal level.
This program not only imparts knowledge but also cultivates a genuine and enduring relationship with God, contributing to the overall spiritual development of the students.
Scripture is the foundation of each Branch and will develop knowledge, understanding, skills, compassion and awe and wonder across the curriculum
